Martha Stewart posted photos of her beige living room, and commenters took it personally

Martha Stewart is anything but "stuffy."
The television personality recently reacted to commenters who called her Maine home's decor boring.
"I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room," she captioned a photo of her living room Wednesday, "I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed !!!"
The post was in reference to comments made after the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model posted a set of photos of her living rooms on Tuesday, including chairs, couches and a metal framed loveseat; a table set designed to look like wood; and walls decorated with illustrations of birds, with beige lampshades and decor throughout — all in a beige, grey and black color scheme.
One commenter wrote that the room appeared "old and stuffy" and another remarked that the decor gave "Marriott suite living room in 1987." However, not all of the comments were critical, with one comment saying "I have so missed your interior decorating segments. YES YES YES to all of this."

Stewart, 82, said at the time that the furniture had been rearranged or re-incorporated from a previous home. She later provided context, saying the revamped living rooms were done within only a few hours.
"I and my Maine helpers spent three hours moving out the old furniture and putting in the new #we were pleased that the pieces actually fit the room," she wrote Wednesday. "The was not a 'decorator's ' professional installation It was an attempt to change quickly and efficiently."
She added that the living room is still a work in progress and that "color, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects" would be added, telling followers to "stay tuned!!!!"
Stewart is, of course, used to bucking expectations. The celebrated lifestyle maven canceled Thanksgiving late last year because most of her guests bailed. And earlier in the year, she became one of the oldest people to cover Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue.
"To be on the cover (at) my age was a challenge. And I think I met the challenge," she said after seeing the cover.
