One student is dead and another hospitalized following a stabbing at a North Carolina high school on Monday.
The Raleigh Police Department said they were called to Southeast Raleigh High School at around 11:00 a.m. on Monday after a student had been stabbed during a fight.
The altercation took place in the school gymnasium and the school was placed on lockdown, a message to families from Principal George Harden said.
A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were taken to a local hospital where the former died. The other is still hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

WTVD reported that cellphone footage of the fight prior to the stabbing circulated on social media. Students who witnesses the incident said it was traumatizing.
"There were a lot of people around him, and they were very concerned about him and it was very scary," Daniela Fortin, a student told WTVD about the student who later died.
"A very traumatic experience," Fortin said. "There were videos of what happened ... I don't know how to explain it, but it was so sad seeing all of the videos."
