Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Joe Burrow previously has suggested that the National Football League add a bye week if it moves to an 18-game regular season.
After he discussed it earlier this week, though, former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel tweeted that he guarantees Burrow has aroused the ire of every NFL player, adding that the owners "just gained some leverage over the players."
"I guarantee you every NFL player seeing this is NOT happy with Burrow for saying this," Daniel tweeted. "The NFLPA is already having meetings about damage control. … This is what happens when a Top 5 QB speaks in favor of 18 game season."
Many Bengals fans and Burrow supporters have responded by pointing out that the 18-game season is inevitable, and Burrow simply is making it known he's in favor of two bye weeks in the event that the 18-game season becomes a reality.
"18 games?" Burrow tweeted in April. "2 bye weeks."
