Tori Kelly is grateful for her health.
After spending days in the hospital this summer due to blood clots in her legs and lungs, the American Idol alum is reflecting on the frightening experience.
"That was definitely a scary few days," she said during an Oct. 9 appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show. "I actually ended up collapsing one night, and they found out that I had blood clots. And it was really crazy and scary."
Thankfully, the "Paper Hearts" singer said she was supported by her loved ones and an excellent medical team, allowing her to focus on her recovery.
"My family was definitely there for me," she continued. "I had a peace throughout most of it, but I was just kind of confused, and wondering what was going on. I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy. And it seems like it's a manageable thing now. I feel amazing, they're still monitoring me and everything like that, but I feel great."
And part of her recovery? Being able to return to her passion.
"I'm back to singing, and back to doing my thing," the 30-year-old shared. "I feel really good, I'm really grateful."
The "Dear No One" artist also spoke about her recent musical release—an eponymous EP which came out the very same week in July that she was in the hospital.
"I had my music scheduled to come out that same week," Tori remembered. "And I kind of had the option, 'Okay, do I want to push it back even more?' And I decided, 'You know what I'm still going to put out this music, even though I can't promote it the way that I usually would. I really want to still give my fans the opportunity to just listen to this music.' Because this music is just so happy and fun, and I wanted them to be able to just have that.'"
At the time of her medical scare, the Sing actress released a statement that had a sweet message for her fans.
"Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I've been in the last few years," Tori—who tied the knot with André Murillo in 2018—shared in a handwritten note on Instagram. "I love you all so much & I am truly overwhelmed by all of the love & care I have received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
